Dayang Salma has a deep interest in the fields of cooking, cake making and food handling. She inherited her cooking talent from her late mother who gave her a lot of tutoring since she was a child. Continuously, in order not to waste Dayang Salma's existing talents, she poured her talent to serve as a cook in one of the government agencies.

Dayang Salma's cuisine has indeed won the hearts of those who have tried it. Dayang Salma is also docile in receiving cooking orders from relatives and office colleagues. The effort was not in vain and even received a favorable response. After completing her service in 2007, Dayang Salma continued her food ordering business to generate more income in preparation for her old age, in addition to being a single mother. With the help of her children, she opened a small stall and started a business of soto and smoked fish food.

However, with Dayang Salma's age and condition not allowing her to exert energy as before, she has received recommendations from her children to try other types of business.

With her talent, Dayang Salma then tried her hand at making crackers by producing various types of crackers made by herself such as shrimp, fish, breadfruit, durian, kembayau, pumpkin and meruku. Apart from that, Dayang Salma also sells various types of food products made by herself such as belacan, sesagun, cerelac biscuits and fish serunding. The stall that used to invite customers who wanted to dine on soto and smoked fish is now used as a 'cube' shop to sell Dayang Salma's own handmade food.

In 2018, Dayang Salma received entrepreneurial capital assistance through the Yayasan Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Welfare Financing Scheme (SPK) to expand her business. Through this assistance, Dayang Salma has been able to buy a special machine for making crackers to increase sales results. Dayang Salma wants her business to continue to grow and receive response and support from the public.

Despite her talent and experience in the field of cooking, Dayang Salma still has the will to always increase her knowledge by attending various culinary courses and food manufacturing enterprises organized by government, private and association agencies such as the Department of Community Development, Department of Agriculture and Agrifood, LiveWIRE Brunei, Women's Business Council of Brunei Darussalam and the Community Well-Being Council.

In return for the help and support she received, Dayang Salma also contributed to the community through her talents. Dayang Salma is involved in providing basic cooking courses for single mothers conducted by the Society for Community Outreach & Training (SCOT) Brunei, the Single Mother Inspiration Entrepreneurship Program. Well done and kudos to Dayang Salma.
