Realising that her family needs to be independent and does not want to rely solely on government assistance, Dayang Hamsia is determined to help her husband in increasing the family's income. After her husband retired in 2010, Dayang Hamsia started trying to run a small business. She started by selling clothes online until she opened a stall selling food. However, his efforts did not really show results. Dayang Hamsia decided to work as a canteen assistant at one of the schools.
With her work experience and experience in running a business before, Dayang Hamsia tried to run a school canteen. In 2017, Dayang Hamsia managed to get a place to do business in the canteen of Katimahar Elementary School. With her husband's help and support, Dayang Hamsia managed to run the school canteen business well and worked to add canteen branches in other schools. It didn't stop there, the fortune of Syarikat Dayang Hamsia was increasing after he managed to get an offer to operate a school canteen in two more schools. To expand the enterprise, Syarikat Dayang Hamsia needs to provide more capital.


In 2019, Dayang Hamsia received entrepreneurial capital assistance through the Yayasan Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Welfare Financing Scheme (SPK) to develop a school canteen enterprise. Starting with a canteen, Syarikat Dayang Hamsia & Anak-Anak has now managed to operate four school canteen branches. Dayang Hamsia and her husband were also able to buy a new car in 2020 to replace the old car that was often used as a transport for supplies for canteen sales.

He is grateful for the family's improved standard of living. This very significant change made Dayang Hamsia and her husband tireless. Dayang Hamsia has the ambition to further expand her business so that one day she and her family will be able to be fully independent.
