Signing Ceremony of Yayasan Sultan's Scholar "Sultan's Scholar" Scholarship Award Ceremony for the Year 2025/2026 Study Session - The House of Bolkiah

On 11 Rabiulawal 1447 equivalent to 4 September 2025, Yayasan Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah held the Signing Ceremony of the Yayasan Sultan's Scholar "Sultan's Scholar" Scholarship Award Agreement for the 2025/2026 study session at the An-Naura Hall, Yayasan Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Complex, Bandar Seri Begawan.

Present as the guest of honour was Yang Berhormat Pehin Datu Lailaraja Major General (B) Dato Paduka Seri Awang Haji Halbi bin Haji Mohd. Yussof, Minister in the Prime Minister's Department and Minister of Defence II as Chairman of the Board of Directors of Yayasan Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah.

The Agreement Signing Ceremony for the recipients of the Yayasan Sultan's Scholar "Sultan's Scholar" scholarship award is a continuation of the Yayasan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah "Sultan's Scholar" Scholarship Award Ceremony 2024/2025 which also took place today at Istana Nurul Iman.

A total of five students who successfully received the "Sultan's Scholar" scholarship award from Yayasan Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah for the 2024/2025 study session were present to sign the agreement at this ceremony. They are:

  • Awangku Muhammad Eljaz Mateen bin Pengiran Muhammad Khairul Nizam is a graduate of the Paduka Seri Begawan Sultan Science College and through the sultan's scholar scholarship he will continue his Bachelor's degree in Physics (MSci in Physics) at the University of College London, United Kingdom.
  • Awang Ahmad Danish Hakimi bin Shufiady is a graduate of the Brunei International School (ISB) and through the "Sultan's Scholar" scholarship he will continue his studies at the Bachelor of Science – Major in Mathematics and Statistics at the University of Melbourne, Australia.
  • Awang Muhammad Saedon bin Haji Sahralidin is a graduate of Jerudong International School and through the "Sultan's Scholar" scholarship he will continue his Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor in Surgery and Bachelor in Obstetrics at Trinity College Dublin, The University of Dublin, Republic of Ireland.
  • Awang Muhammad Mughni bin Haji Mohd Salleh is a graduate of the Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Tahfiz Al-Quran Institute and through the "Sultan's Scholar" scholarship he will continue his Bachelor studies in the department of Takhassus Al-Quran Wal Qiraat at Ma'had Qiraat Shoubra, Al-Azhar University, Arab Republic of Egypt.
  • Dayang Dayana binti Adi Rani Soffian is a graduate of Hassanal Bolkiah Arab High School and through the "Sultan's Scholar" scholarship she will continue her Bachelor's degree studies in the Islamic Shariah department at Al-Azhar University, Arab Republic of Egypt.

The ceremony began with the recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah led by Yang Mulia Pengiran Haji Muhammad Wafiuddin bin Pengiran Haji Zulkarnain, Buhuth Officer, Government Mufti Department who is also an Alumnus of the "Sultan's Scholar" of Yayasan Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah.

The ceremony continued with the signing of the scholarship acceptance agreement for the five scholarship recipients who were accompanied by two guarantors consisting of their parents or immediate family members. The signing of the agreement on behalf of Yayasan Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah was carried out by Yang Mulia Dato Seri Paduka Awang Haji Sufian bin Haji Sabtu, Deputy Minister (Security and Law) in the Prime Minister's Department as the Acting Managing Director of Yayasan Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah together with Yang Mulia Major (B) Awang Sopian bin Haji Mohammad Yassin, Assistant Managing Director of Yayasan Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah witnessed by the guest of honour of the ceremony, Yang Berhormat Pehin Datu Lailaraja Major General (B) Dato Paduka Seri Awang Haji Halbi bin Haji Mohd. Yussof, Minister in the Prime Minister's Department and Minister of Defence II as Chairman of the Board of Directors of Yayasan Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah.

The ceremony continued with the recitation of Doa Selamat to ask for special blessings for the recipients of the "Sultan's Scholar" scholarship from Yayasan Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah who will depart from Brunei Darussalam to continue their studies.

Also present at the event were the Board Members of Yayasan Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah; Members of the Sultan's Scholar Scholarship Scheme Steering Committee of Yayasan Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah; Permanent Secretaries and Deputy Permanent Secretaries in the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Religious Affairs; Members of the Working Committee of the "Sultan's Scholar" Scholarship Scheme of Yayasan Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah, the parents and family members of the recipients of the "Sultan's Scholar" scholarship award of Yayasan Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah; senior officials of the relevant Government Departments and officers of Yayasan Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah; alumni of the "Sultan's Scholar" of the Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Foundation; and some Principals from sixth form institutions throughout the country.

In line with one of the main goals of Brunei Vision 2035 which is to produce educated, highly skilled and successful people, the Sultan's Scholar Scholarship Scheme of Yayasan Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah is a human capacity development programme that aims to produce the next generation who will line up in leadership for the benefit of religion, race, monarchy and nation as well as contribute to the socio-economic development of the country.
