In conjunction with the Silver Jubilee Celebration of His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu'izzaddin Waddaulah, the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam Ascended the Throne on Monday, 9 Rabiulakhir 1413 Hijrah equivalent to 5 October 1992 AD, His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam has agreed to establish a Foundation known as Yayasan Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah.
Yayasan Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah was established under an act called the Yayasan Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Act (Term 166). Yayasan Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah was established based on FIVE purposes namely Religion, Welfare, Education, Development and Finance.
Since its inception, Yayasan Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah has carried out several projects and activities in line with the policy and purpose of its establishment in the fields of Religion, Welfare, Education, Development and Finance. Strategic partners and volunteers are among the driving forces of the Foundation in helping to expand its charitable and community activities.
Among the projects that have been implemented are the development of the Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Foundation Complex Building and the Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Foundation School. In line with the purpose and objectives of the establishment of the Foundation, the Volunteer Unit has also been established with the aim of fostering awareness and raising the spirit of volunteerism in the community.
With the consent of His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu'izzaddin Waddaulah, starting in 1424 Hijrah equivalent to 2003 AD, the Foundation organizes the Hari Raya Aidilfitri Celebration Ceremony by inviting different community groups every year to be highlighted in generating community well-being. At the Hari Raya Aidilfitri Celebration Ceremony organised by the Foundation, His Majesty the Sultan and the Yang Di-Pertuan were pleased to give a message in the form of a message that needs to be conveyed for the benefit of religion, race and nation.
In addition, the Foundation also manages the distribution of personal gifts of His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu'izzaddin Waddaulah, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam, namely dates, ihram clothes and telekongs which are annual projects of the Foundation.
